It’s December. The snow is whirling around Denmark and in a few short weeks, 2023 will end in the usual traditions. Before that happens I wanted to take a moment to share the biggest thing I’ve worked on all year. Maybe the biggest thing I have ever worked on.
No, it’s not The macOS App Icon Book (even though that has been a big undertaking). I’m talking about the game we announced last month: Dinolords.
We’ve been working on the game since last year, but in many ways it feels like the past 7 years of running Northplay has led to this exact project. Finding and developing it has given us a strength and direction that we’ve never had before. We’re on to something.
If you do nothing else, then please go wishlist it on Steam right now.
(Wish-listing helps out a lot in the big Steam algorithm)

Ready for the next level
I’m very proud of everything we’ve managed to make at Northplay. Each game and client project has been an adventure.
I’m proud to have run a sustainable business in the games industry. Proud to have been able to employ and grow a great team. We’ve worked on so much and I’ve had to learn even more as CEO.
I entered into this year knowing that we would need to do things differently. For as much as I enjoy what we’ve done, I also felt ready to work on bigger and more ambitious projects. I was ready to accept that I didn’t have to do all the heavy lifting alone.
We spent the Spring of this year attending business events and taking meetings with more than 40 publishers. It’s kinda wild that it took us 7 years to have our first publisher talks— but I’m glad that when we finally did have them, it was pitching Dinolords. To say that reception was positive would be an understatement. It took us by surprise given the harsh fund-raising-climate.
I spent the Summer in advanced talks with several parties before we finally signed with our dream publisher: Danish creators of Deep Rock Galactic: Ghost Ship Games. They know early access PC games and we’re making an early access PC game.
Here’s what it looked like when we announced it live on the Ghost Ship stream.
So you see, Dinolords isn’t just going to be a great game. It’s the beginning of something entirely new for Northplay.
There’s more.
Open Development
We have an ambition of doing open development on this game. That means we’re recording meetings, game-tests, development and everything else behind the scenes. There’s 2 episodes out. Here’s the first one.
If you’re curious about how something like this is built, or maybe just what it’s like working in games, then I think this series will be fun to follow. There’s also an official X account @dinolordsgame and a Discord server if you want to join the community and be part of building this.
If you’ve been following me on X, you probably know some of this as I’ve been posting about this for quite some time. However I’ve been wanting to share some more thoughts on everything we’ve been up to and that’s exactly what this email list is for.
Thank you for reading and supporting my work. I’d love to hear what you think about Dinolords.
I hope you have a great December.
Sincerely,
Michael
The visuals look great and the videos emit good vibes. Keep it going! I'm not much of a game guy, but at some point I do want to build a game chain. A chain specifically for games.
