Everything I worked on in 2023
A video recap and some thoughts on the first 3 months of the year
I feel like the first 3 months of 2024 has gone by in a blur. I have hardly tweeted or contributed to conversations online. I have scrolled a lot, but felt generally apathetic towards putting stuff out there. I’m not entirely sure why I haven’t felt like participating.
It has been busy.
In January and February I spent a considerably amount of time wrapping up The macOS App Icon Book Kickstarter and coordinating the delivery of a lot of books.
I did inventory and can inform you that the total amount of physical app icon books sold has crossed 5300(!). That includes The iOS App Icon Book, The Japanese Softcover Edition and The macOS App Icon Book.
When I started this project in 2018, I didn’t think we’d sell a 1000 copies, let alone 5000+. I’m incredibly proud of that achievement and I want to thank each and every one of you. If all the book holders showed up to a party, we’d have a huge icon festival!
I have also been incredibly focused on Dinolords. The development has entered into the next milestone. We’ve grown our team and I feel like every week, new stuff happens. We’ll have something cool to share on April 10th.
I have also just been busy being a parent. Something we don’t really talk a lot about online.
I did manage to finish my yearly recap with everything I worked on in 2023. It really was a remarkable year for me. Video in the top of this email or just here. This marks the 7th year that I’m doing these recaps and you can catch them all here.
I’m turning 40 this Thursday, on April 4th. I do so with no dread or remorse. I look forward to the next decade.
I hope you have a great week.
Michael
